Summary: Inspired by lokei's fantastic AU, Still Waters, and particularly the phrase: "bare-chested colonels hefting tridents and wearing crowns of starfish."
Content/warnings: Highlight the blur to view. Sex with mutants. Prehensile penises. Um. Prehensile penis sex bears a lot of resemblance to tentacle!porn, though I suppose it would be a quite mild variety.

There are so many things happening in Abyss that I really, as I began to write, I was wondering less if, and more how, I was going to get everything covered. Since then I have had a misbehaving USB drive, had to resort to Linux to find the lost file and then had a major virus scare at work knocking out my workstation and all three of my work USB backups ... and I fixed it without any of our technicians touching my computer either.
Anyway, I personally find this episode is very frustrating. When analysing what is going on it brings in one set of mythemes and folklore tropes and it runs with them. All this, while we are nodding at what they are saying and thinking we get it, but we are being mislead. It does a sharp turn in another direction throwing us off and confusing us. This is bad enough when done once one has to say, after it happens several times it makes you want to tell the writers " for goodness sake, Guys, at least try to be consistent ! "
My job in this meta is to try and make some sense of this maze and lead you through it. I hope I make some sense, if not don't blame my powers of analysis, blame the people who put it together.
Oh and yes ... I feel very bad about what I said in the previous meta about Jack not being important in this episode. Having looked again at Abyss I realised I was rather wrong in what I was saying. Jack, and his journey, are a very important part of what is going on. He is a catalyst of many of the events that happen here and although I may be wittering on long and loud about Daniel in this meta Jack certainly has a big part to play. It's just that I have to witter to, well ... explain everything.

I recently read Lost in Transit (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5564151/1/ )by ziparumpazoo which highlights a relationship between Sam and Charlie Kawalsky and it got me (and the author) wondering if there were any more Sam/Charlie stories out there. It doesn't have to be a romantic relationship, could be friendship.
And even as I'm typing this, I'm wondering if there are also any stories which have a strong Sam/Charlie O'Neill aspect to them as they would be welcome as well!

Oops, 'nother fic search.
Read this one a long time ago. Can't remember if it's slash or not, but Jack is NOT a nice guy, despite what Daniel believes. Jack sees that Ferretti is becoming closer friends with Daniel than Jack likes, so he takes Ferretti out one night and kills him.
Any one know what this one is?

I can't believe I don't have a link to this, but it's a fairly famous story because it involves a very sensual experience for both Daniel and Vala where taste slides into touch, a synaesthesia episode, because of an offworld restaurant Vala takes him to. But it's a gen story! No romance, no sex.
I think I read it on an archive, not on LJ, but I think it might exist here too?

So, I just lost 20+ tabs and my entire history because my computer sucks (my own fault really, but anyway), and among them was an unread J/D story... and now I rely on you guys to re-direct me to it :)
It was a yellow-ish brown website, and here's a summary of the few paragraphes I read: Set in Season 4 (?), the one where all the problems started and Jack and Daniel have somehow grown apart, they are on a planet, on a market, and some alien wants to buy Jack from Daniel. Daniel refuses, but Jack can tell that he does it because of the mission and not out of personal feelings, and Jack's thoughts about that and about their changing relationship in the past months.
And that's it.
Whoever manages to find what I'm looking for (and also those of you who'll give me other random fics) will have my undying love.

Previously on Stargate SG-1, intoned beautifully by Teal’c:
In case you’ve been in denial that Season 6 existed deep under a rock, you’ll remember Jack got the sick from some icy Ancient chick (who later went on to marry Colonel Young from Stargate: Universe, but I digress) and was whisked away by the Tok’ra for a little “come together” action with Kanan the Good Snake. Personally, I believe O’Neill was not in his right mind or he’d have never agreed to it!

Food for Thought
1. Battle not with monsters, lest ye become a monster, and if you gaze into the abyss into the abyss, the abyss gazes also into you. – Neitzsche How does this relate to Jack’s predicament in this episode? Do you think the episode was entitled with this quote in mind?
2. Despite my tongue-in-cheek recap of this episode, I do find it to be an emotional story, well played by the actors involved. What does this episode say to you about Jack and Daniel’s friendship?
3. Is the solution arrived at by Sam, Teal’c and Jonas a bit too convenient because the story needed to wrap up in 43 minutes or because the writer was trying to hang a lantern on Daniel’s involvement in their answer.
4. Where did Daniel go? Was he skulking around dark corners, listening to other people’s conversations or subtly contributing to the thought processes?
5. Mirroring Daniel’s CotG’s plea, “Surely, something of the host survives,” we are told a Tok’ra blending allows each to take on traits of the other. How will this experience change Jack?
6. How does Ba’al as a system lord compare to other baddies we have met in the series?
7. Did anyone else find it amusing that Sam and two aliens talked in-depth about how "we" don't leave anyone behind, a typically Tau'ri policy? Do either of their cultures actually support this sentiment or have they been assimilated to ours?

So there is the final update... Over the past day we have processed around 11 million jobs out of the 12 million that were in queue at that time. Please bear in mind that over this past day, more jobs for notifications are also created. So while the queue has been dropping, we are still not fully caught up at this point, due to backlog and new jobs. We have roughly 3 million jobs still pending that involve the notification system in some manner. We had hoped we could have fully cleared the queue in a day, but unfortunately we can't clear it too quickly, since we need the rest of the site to operate normally. From our current perspective on the amount of jobs that are left in queue, and how many it has processed thus far, we believe it will take around another 8 - 12 hours to process everything.

(hope everyone forgives me for popping in here so often...I just keep remembering these great stories).
I'm looking for two stories this time:
1- The Tokra have info on some party or meeting or some such where they know that important Goa'uld information will be discussed. They have apparently set up some lord personality who will be attending this shindig, but no one has ever seen him, which then allows Jack to pretend to be this lord. For some reason Daniel has to go as Jack's sex slave though (probably because he's needed for his language skills), and there are these great little scenes where Jack and Daniel have to practice touching and kissing and whatever so that they don't flinch on the planet (I think there's some Daniel-in-tight-clothes scenes too). While I'm pretty sure Jack and Daniel aren't together at first, I think they do get together pretty quickly on the planet. I also vaguely remember Daniel having to deal with some unwanted attention.
Found: Diversion
2- Somehow Daniel gets captured or kidnapped by slavers who use some kind of (root?) drug on him that makes him loose his memory, and therefore makes him more "pliable". He ends up getting bought by some (middle easternish) king who slowly seduces Daniel who fights at first, but ends up going along with it to some degree. I remember the evolution of their relationship being pretty intense, but also never fully mutual either. Then like a year later or something SG-1 is on a mission to the planet where Daniel is, and they are totally shocked when they see him sitting among a bunch of harem slaves or something. They eventually bargain for Daniel's release, and I'm assuming he gets his memory back (maybe via flashes later in the story?). Knowing my preferences, the story might also have been Jack/Daniel at some point too.

1.I've read several stories where John and Rodney form a Sentinel/Guide pair with Jack and Daniel as an established pairing. Are there any fics where Jack and Daniel become a Sentinel/Guide pair? Does not have to have any SGA characters in it.

Hi All,
I am searching for a fic I probably read a couple of years ago. I may also be mixing up two different fics - I'm not sure.
Anyways....in this fic Daniel gets tired/angry of/with Jack and the SGC and leaves. He heads to England. Jack goes after him and meets some people from Daniel's past. They also go to Scotland or Wales (I'm not sure which). While they are there they climb a mountain and end up meeting (?rescuing) two female tourists also climbing the mountain. I seem to remember it being a fairly long fic - but it really was years ago that I read it.
Does anyone know the fic I'm talking about?
Also, can anyone rec some good Jack/Daniel fics where Daniel leaves the SGC and Jack goes after him?
